1) Don't take a class just because it's on the bar
Your bar study material will cover all you need to know. Taking bar-tested courses may lower your GPA and drive without much reward.
2) Enroll into a course that has an experiential component
Experiential/clinic components give you real-world experiences and build your resume. As a plus, you get course credit! REALLY take advantage of these opportunities!
3) Reserve one course for exploration
If you want to do tax law for career purposes but have always been interested in criminal law, take criminal law course as your extra. You may find out that your "extra" course is your real passion. Allow yourself room to explore.
